Age

The Explorer Section is for young people, usually aged between 1418 years. A young person can come into the Troop at 14 and may stay until they are 18 years old. 

Structure and meetings

Edmund Hillary Explorer Unit is part of the District’s provision of Scouting. Edmund Hillary Explorer Scout Unit is partnered with 3rd Whitton Scout Group, we work together under a partnership agreement, sharing use of equipment, facilities and resources. Many of Edmund Hillary Explorers assist 3rd Whitton Scout sections as young leaders and are in District Groups. We have a number of Explorers that recently took part in the last World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia USA alongside 47,000 Scouters from across the globe. Activites

Explorer Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme including traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking, as well as a wider spectrum of adventurous activities
